NOTE: If you live outside Charlottetown city limits, you must add the 

Subsidy Non-Qualifier fee of $60 per skater (in the red box on the right called Purchase Subscriptions).

 

 Information for Registration


CanSkate

CanSkate operates in two separate registrations: Block 1 (October  - December ) and Block 2 (January -March ). There are no full-season CanSkate programs for the 2023 -2024 Season. Both blocks include 10 weeks of lessons.

All CanSkate sessions are held at Simmons Arena on North River Rd.

Thursdays 4:45 pm and/or Saturdays 8:45 am :

PreCanSkate (Parent Assisted, Solo) & CanSkate A

Thursdays 5:30 pm and/or Saturdays 9:25 am:

Canskate B: Stages 2 and up 

 

PreCanSkate - Parent Assisted 

For ages 3-5 who need assistance to participate - be it physical or for following instructions. A parent joins the skater on the ice (on skates) and acts as the on-ice assistant for their skater.

Both Parent and Child must be registered (separate programs). Register the PARENT first (listed under Special:Parent Assistant at the bottom of the registration page), THEN register the CHILD

There is no program cost for parent assistants, HOWEVER, an annual Skate Canada Membership Fee MUST be purchased for the on-ice parent for insurance purposes, if not already purchased earlier in the season. (Skate Canada membership check or purchase is handled through the Parent Assistant registration).


CanSkate 

For Ages 3-17 who can participate without the assistance of a parent 

Participants must be able and willing to go on the ice without a parent or guardian, AND  to follow instructions on their own. New Participants requiring an assistant may not register in the regular CanSkate Program and must register in Parent Assisted PreCanSkate.

CanSkate A: Stages 1-2  - for those just starting off or who are still working on CanSkate stages 1 and 2.  

CanSkate B: Stages 2 and up  - for those who have completed PreCanSkate/Stage 1. This session is not for beginners aged 3-5.


All participants must be at least 3 at the start of any program.

Each CanSkate Stage is comprised of 3 areas: Agility, Balance and Control. A completed stage will have earned the 3 ribbons (red, green, blue), and the associated badge.

STARSkate


Juniors, Intermediates, Seniors


The three StarSkate groups all have level/achievement requirements. Please check the "view details" section in the program description.for details. 

All StarSkate Levels will be verified in the case of waiting lists. If a skater does not hold all of the proper requirements, and there is someone on the waiting list who does, the skater will be moved to the appropriate level. Please check with your coach if you are uncertain.

Juniors: CanSkate stages 5-6 (by coach Invitation only) and those working on StarSkate Star 1 Skills, FreeSkate and  Star 2A Dance

Intermediates : MUST have passed Junior requirements (StarSkate Star 1 Skills, FreeSkate and  Star 2A Dance), for those working on working on Star 2,3 and up. 

Seniors: MUST have passed Star 4 Elements and Program, Star 5 Skills, and Star 5A Dance, and have coach recommendation to advance. 

For and , Friday does NOT count as one of the two for minimum purchase. 


 

 Costs, when listed. do not include annual Skate Canada fee of $58.65 (required by ALL on-ice participants) 

Note to those who live outside of the Charlottetown City Limits: 

There is a Subsidy Non-Qualifier fee of $60 per term for each participant. 

The Subsidy Non-Qualifier fee MUST BE PURCHASED by each participant who does not live within the city limits of City of Charlottetown as part of the program cost.

This is a set fee per participant and per program ($120 full year, or $60 per block: Oct-Dec or Jan-Mar).  The program cost is the same for all participants, but the City of Charlottetown sponsors and subsidizes program costs for those participants under 18 who live within its city limits.
